Syllabus - Strings
- Refer to all General Rules.
- String winners of previous years may not re-enter the same class in the following year, unless they are competing for the Kiwanis Bowl.
- Competitors must follow all rules regarding performance from memory as stipulated for their level in RCM or Conservatory Canada syllabi.
- Students must enter all classes within a discipline at the same level.
- Classes can be arranged for Viola and Double Bass by contacting the CKMF Committee at ckmf@chathamkiwanis.com. The deadline for making such a request is December 15, 2026.
- All string entries are OWN CHOICE, chosen from the RCM (Cello 2013, Violin 2021) or Conservatory Canada (Violin 2001) syllabi.
- In String classes for level 5 and under, competitors may have their instruments tuned by a teacher or other individual.
- All performance times must be on the entry forms. Where required, please ensure that time limits are respected. Failure to do so may result in disqualification.
Kiwanis Bowl
The Kiwanis Bowl will be awarded to the overall winner of the Strings, Brass and Woodwind instruments, provided:
- The competitor has performed in at least two Kiwanis Bowl Classes and has achieved at least one mark of 85 or more.
- The following classes for Strings are eligible: 50040, 50050, 50060, 50070, 50080, 50110, 50120, 50130, 50140, 50150, 50135, 55000.
- All selections are OWN CHOICE, and must be Level 10 or Diploma level (ARCT/ACC).
- All repertoire must be chosen to RCM 2021 Violin or Conservatory Canada 2001 Violin syllabi, or RCM 2013 Cello syllabus.
