Syllabus - Speech Arts
- Competitors may enter one solo class in each section.
- All selections must be performed from memory, with the exception of Bible Reading and Poetry Reading.
- Competitors must provide the adjudicator with the original source material (book, etc.) from which memorized excerpts are taken. Photocopies are prohibited.
- To be eligible for an award, a competitor must have entered two Solo classes and obtained a minimum mark of 85 in at least one class.
- Competitors are encouraged to use the RCM 2011 RCM Speech Arts and Drama Syllabus as a resource for choosing age-appropriate material.
- Refer to General Rules 8 and 21.
Bible Reading
- OWN CHOICE of scripture passage from the King James Bible or the New International Bible.
- Selections are not to be memorized. Students should read from their Bible; it is permissible to provide the adjudicator with a photocopy of the scripture passage, provided there is one original Bible present.
- Time limit 3 minutes.
